Papji, as he is called by his followers, was born in Punjab in 1910 to the sister of Swami Rama Tirth, one of India's most revered saints. He realized the Truth when only 8 years old. This realization blossomed in his early thirties when he met his guru, Sri Ramana Maharshi, the Sage of Arunachala. Sri Poonja passed on in September, 1997.
