The torch song has been around as long as people have been falling in and out of love. The greatest singers of each generation-mainly female-have put their spin on the tradition. This anthology gives the newest generation of artists a chance to showcase their interpretations of this classic style, including Cassandra Wilson, the Norwegian group Xploding Plastik, dZihan and Kamien, St. Etienne's Sarah Cracknell with David Holmes, and Elvis Costello-the only male vocalist featured.
