When Paul la Roche, who records under the name Brule, decided to make an album honoring his musical forefathers, it was natural to turn to the music of Xit for inspiration. I wanted to pay tribute to the people who had created modern Native music, and Xit are at the core of that movement, he says, so he went through the Xit songbook and chose melodies that spoke to his heart.
