The Thurman-Hamer-Ellington (T.H.E.) Percussion Choir is a musical ensemble with a mission: To make the joyful statement that people of racial diversity, male and female, able and disabled, gay and straight, old and young, can come together to honor African rhythms and make beautiful music. This mission has been upheld by the group since 1992. Their latest CD, produced by director Chuck Cogliandro, showcases live-in-the-studio ensemble recordings of exciting West African drumming and singing by Choir members, plus selections from three guest ensembles that were begun by T.H.E. members in other communities around the Southeast US: The Emerson Drummers of Marietta, GA, the Potluck Drum Choir of Auburn, AL, and the EXCEL Drummers of Inner Harbour Hospital in Douglasville, GA.
