Kingcake consists of Scot Ray on tuba, Brad Dutz on percussion, and Matt Zebley on woodwinds. The band could be described as a Mardi Gras-free jazz collision, New Orleans in the 4th dimension, or music derived from Bourbon Street, Ornette Coleman, and video arcades. Through original compositions and untraditional approaches to traditional material, Kingcake explores the fusing of innumerable styles with an emphasis on rhythmic grooves, free improvisation and humor.
